Abhisht is a Sanskrit word which means 'desired' or 'wanted'. We aim for a world that normalizes neurodiversity and brings differently abled persons into the mainstream of society. We strive towards providing much needed facilities, opportunities and spaces for PWDs (persons with disabilities) and their families.
Abhisht Charitable Trust was formed on 26 Oct 2022 (Trust No: 1082215034)
Through meet-ups, camps, talks and roadshows, Abhisht drives awareness about various forms of disabilities, helps parents in early identification and hand holds them through the next steps of diagnosis, formal therapy and rehabilitation services
We have a fully equipped life-skills classroom to teach independent home-living. We offer vocational education options aimed at promoting financial and functional independence amongst persons with disabilities.
Education should aim to make a child feel accomplished, not overwhelmed. We offer individualized education suited to meet children at their level of competence and interest. Abhisht Academy offers remedial education for children struggling in mainstream schools, functional academics and tutoring for NIOS stream
Abhisht has been running an online support group for parents since 2018. Initially known as 'Beautiful Mothers', we have now partnered with the nationwide NGO - Nayi Disha to enable parents to connect and feel a part of a shared community. We also counsel parents from several countries and direct them to appropriate rehabilitation services.
We conduct meet-ups and create spaces for children to come together and participate in community activities such as picnics, outings to places of interest, group role-plays, group music and dance and a host of others, aimed at improving socialization and building connections.
